DID YOU KNOW?
EARTH IS ROUND
In ancient times, people believed that Earth was flat. Some believed it was a sort of giant disc floating in the ocean. Sailors noticed that they could see only the top of a ship on the horizon, meaning the sea must curve along the surface of a spherical Earth.

The idea of a round Earth made possible the Age of Discovery, a period of great European exploration that began in the 1400's. During this period, Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and Ferdinand Magellan circled the entire globe.
